That’s a lot of numbers to crunch, what does it mean, who are the winners, and how did they win?
You may also be wondering, as I was, who is Potentialpark? Let me tell you the story as I saw it last week on the 37th floor of the KPMG building in NYC.
Greeted by two lovely ladies from Netherlands and Germany, the potential award winners filed in to the large conference room with a wonderful view of the East River. Dozens of plaques and four large crystal awards sat quietly on one side of the room waiting to be hauled back to an office for a brag wall or desk.
The overall very impressive event was kicked off by US Director Björn Wigeman and CEO Torgill Lenning, both polished presenters who highlighted the depth of their research and methodology.
Next up was Nicole Fritz, Associate Director for KPMG sharing a case study on their campus recruiting and the various communication tools they use to reel in top talent. Her team led the way for the company breaking new ground in use of social media and technology for recruiting:
- Social – Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn (EH)
- Mobile – Apps, Website
- Web – Careers sites
- Print – GO Magazine
- Internal portal type tools
While focusing on the consistency of their brand and messaging, they revamped their career sites to better depict their culture, goals and available opportunities.
After a short break Potentialpark showcased some great examples of how leading companies are leveraging blogs, online video, Google Hangouts On Air and other bleeding edge tech to engage candidates. Interactive cue cards were used for real-time voting in the audience – a nice touch!
Next came the awards… and lots of them!!
There were five categories:
- OTaC (Online Talent Communication Study) Overall
- OTaC Career Website
- OTaC Online Application
- OTaC Social Media Application
- OTaC Mobile Talent Interaction

Then a special treat – a case study of GM’s successful rebranding. Co-presented by GM and their partner JWT Inside, they highlighted the challenges GM had and how they crafted a plan to focus on culture and executed that plan by launching hiring campaigns based on transparency of their ‘new’ employer brand.
Before all the awards were handed out, an awesome panel of leading employers discussed Mobile Talent Interaction & Online Application:
- Shannon Smedstad HR Social Media & Employment Brand Lead, GEICO
- Carrie Corbin Recruiting Strategy & Operations Leader, Samsung
- Lisa Smith-Strother Global Recruitment Marketing & Employer Brand Director, AstraZeneca
The evening wrapped up with a wonderful networking reception, Potentialpark’s team affectionately called “Mingling”, which offered some great interactions with the winners and industry scuttlebutt too!
