Becki Graff shares how GNSI excels in recruiting thanks to ATS partner iCIMS

Learn how new recruiters can deliver great results for their employer, with the help of a great ATS partner.

Q: What’s your role at GNSI?

Becki Graff: I joined GNSI about two years ago as a Recruiter and now I do recruiting 75% of the time and employee relations during the balance. GNSI is a mid-sized technology firm based outside of DC.

Q: Why is iCIMS your partner?

BG: They really are a best in breed provider with a sharp focus on ATS features. They make it very easy to use – case in point: I’ve never used an ATS before I joined GNSI and I was able to figure it out on my own. Even so they have tons of different training which is amazing – webinars, quick reference guides etc. so you can learn to use the system completely. I continue to get confirmation from others in the industry that they’re at the top of their league; recently I attended the iCIMS FastTrack training on-site at their headquarters, and other clients shared how happy they’ve been since they switched from their previous ATS to iCIMS.

Q: Is there more to learn about the system?

BG: Yes, one of my goals for the year is to continue learning how to deliver even more results from iCIMS. Last year one of my professional goals was to increase GNSI’s presence in social media, something they have not really done before.

Q: How did you increase your employers presence in social media?

BG: We use the iCIMS Social Distribution add-on to make that fast and easy. We love it and want to use it even more. It’s only been a few months, but as we push jobs to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. I love how we can track where the candidates coming from.

Q: What else can you do with their Social Distribution tool?

BG: A key goal for us this year is to expand on our use of employee referrals, which is a great way to find top quality talent. The iCIMS offering allows employees to make referrals directly to our HR team and the friends of our employees can express interest in the jobs shared by employees.

Q: Do you have a formal employee referral program?

BG: Yes. If a referred candidate is hired for any role, after 6 months we pay a $500 bonus. iCIMS has different portals we can set up, so we’ll create an internal portal for referrals to help manage that process. We also plan to create other portals such as an intern portal to help personalize the candidate experience for our target audiences.

Q: Any challenges you are having with recruiting?

BG: Yes, we’re having some typical challenges getting buy-in from employees to share their connections with us. We know the more we connect with our employees the more they can help get the word out and make referrals for our next great hire. We have plans to improve our referral program to ensure the employees fully support our needs for finding great talent.

Q: Where do you post your jobs?

BG: Our website, DICE and Linkedin, plus social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. iCIMS also makes it so easy to post to other online sources like job boards. The auto-repost feature is awesome, it helps keep our jobs looking fresh on the job boards, one less thing to worry about. We are typically posting 20-30 openings each month, some of which are evergreen jobs, since we are always recruiting top talent, and for general pipeline recruiting.

Q: How does iCIMS help you track the pipeline candidates?

BG: When candidates apply I can move them over to specific buckets then I can run searches for them later when we’re ready to fill that role.

Q: Other iCIMS tools you’ll be considering in the future?

BG: We are about to use iForms (electronic forms) for our job application and will have the applicants sign off online. That’s a great feature, so we are looking to incorporate more iForms, like tax forms, into our processes.

Q: Any insights for other companies looking to use iCIMS?

BG: They really do have unparalleled customer service. Our client manager Megan Johnston is incredible! I reach out to their help desk many times and they’re very quick to get back to me with an email or they’ll call me if it’s a complex question. They are great advising me on how to customize our own platform and how to make it work for me. The FastTrack training is exclusive and the one-on-one training showed us everything we can do in the system. They’re not a huge company but it’s great they really care about their customers. Their training is free and any iCIMS user can sign up for it, but the on-site program sells out quickly.

Q: Final thoughts?

BG: iCIMS is a great system; if anyone is considering an ATS they should seriously consider iCIMS because they really are a best of breed.
